Betsy Luo, MD, MPH
Dr. Luo serves as an active associate at the Center for Value-Based Medicine, focusing on quality-of-life studies and health assessment. Her experiences with clinical trial management and evidence-based data are strong assets to the Center. Currently sheis a second year ophthalmology resident at Temple University. Previously a healthcare consultant with ECG Management consultants, Inc, she specialized in strategic, financial and management planning for teaching institutions, academic medical centers as well as with private medical practices.
Her interest in international health affairs has been longstanding. Her work at Temple University School of Medicine has made possible a website detailing various topics of international health and she has been instrumental in establishing an international health fund to provide funding for clinicians/studentsseeking to work abroad.
Dr. Luo began her education earning a B.A. in Economics at Columbia University. She subsequently attended Yale School of Public Health where she earned an M.P.H in Health Care Management. She then worked as a health care consultant for several years with ECG Management Consultants, Inc, a consulting firm based in Seattle, while specializing in strategic and management planning for teaching institutions and academic medical centers. She then returned to school, receiving her MD from Temple University School of Medicine.
She has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles focusing upon quality-of-life and value-based medicine. She is a member of the Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association.
